PHILOSOPHY

Architecture is a form of art, where various elements come together and act as a medium to form space. In order to control the outcome of a design, and hence the final impression of a project, an architect must have an overview of every detail, in every scale necessary. By this way, pure forms and gestures can be materialized into balanced compositions.

BIOGRAPHY

Konstantinos Moustakas was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1985. He is a licensed architect and engineer in Greece (EU), currently working as a designer at a firm in San Francisco.

In May 2019 he completed his Master’s degree in Architecture, from University of California Berkeley, after attending the Studio One program, guided by Nicholas de Monchaux. He has graduated with honors and was a valedictorian speaker in both his undergraduate studies at the Department of Architecture of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2009-2014), and the Department of Renovation and Restoration of Buildings of the Technological Educational Institute of Patras (2003-2008), receiving multiple scholarships and distinctions.

During his first undergraduate studies, he collaborated with various professors and engineers in the composition of multiple scale projects, gaining an early glimpse into the nature of the profession and intricate relationship between different fields of engineering. By the end of his second degree, he made his first steps as a freelance architect and in 2013 started collaborating with Sakellaridou–Papanikolaou Architects, contributing and being awarded in international architectural competitions and workshops. Furthermore, during the period of 2011 to 2017, he participated as an educational team member in the primary educational program, “Design Lab for Kids” (https://www.designlabkids.org/), organized in collaboration with the Industrial Design Lab of the School of Visual and Applied Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and hosted within the context of the educational programs of the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art (MMCA).

He has participated and was distinguished in architectural exhibitions in Greece and abroad. He is interested in composition and exploring the relationship between form and function in various scales.
